Romantic and Victorian Poetry:

1). one of the historical event that started on july 14, 1789, the revolution in france, happened when people didn't want a king that they didn't choose the they wanted to be able to choose their king. The industiral Revolution chaged to manufactoring, the people back then use their hands to make things, but now production suitch to factories, so the machines make things for you. Since there where factories, the populations increased and that they all had to live in the city that was where all the jobs where, had to shair rooms with little space, dirty, and massey.

2). During this time I think it was hard because the king had power to make decisions and the normal people to obey what they king had said.
It was a good thing that they had machines cause it made it easiler to make things. the machines was also dangerous for them because it can easily to get hut, and they lived in dirty, nasty houses. I think that things should be safer for them.

3).a. The Romantic poets wanted to express the Romantics belief that imagination, rather than mere reason, was the best response to the forces of change.
b. he wanted to express the word romantic, nature, human mind, and the idea of the poet.
c. also he wanted to express romance, romance is growing up, exploring the world, and learning to trust our emotions.
I think they wanted to express the human mind that expresses your feelings and emotions with that person. Just to show them how happy you are with them.

Step two- William Blake:
A little Girl lost:
I think she's talking about a little Girl thats lost, now she's older she found love, and she realize that love is so strong and passioned that you can hurt someone over it.
I think it's a good example of the romantic poetry because it also talk about love andhow it can change you it you love someone and how you express your feelings with that person. "love, sweet love, was throught a crime".

William Wordsworth:
Composed in Anticipation of leaving school:
He's talking about leaving school he wrote them a note saying that he is leaving. "My soul will cast the backward view, the longing look a lone on you".
I think a good example on that is when he tells them how he feels in the romantic poem talks about their emotions, and in this poem of william wordsworth he's talking about leaving and how he feel know sympathy.

George Gordon, lord Byron:
Advice to a Girl:
She's saying that men are sometimes jealous, don't fall in love into you think it's the right one. love is everywhere all you have to do is wait and it will come to you. "Never love unless you can". I think it's a good example for the romantic poetry but its the other way around. It's telling you not to love into you think it's the right one because you can get hurt if you love somebody and it don't work out. but it's ok to care for that person and show them of you feel about them and tell them that you love them and really don't, you just really care for for that person.

Percy bysshe Shelley:
Love's Philosophy:
She's talking about nothing in the world is single everything has it's own match like peanut butter and jaily. "Nothing in this world is single".
It's a good example because it could be romantic everything have somthing to rely on just like people, two people together, nature as wail.

John Keats:
the Grass hopper and the cricket:
He's saying that the earth will never die everything in it is alive. the birds need to be in cool trees to help them sing because when it's hot they fall out. Poetry is everywhere in the world it's so many things to talk about.
It's a good example of the romantic period because how he Describe the earth that it never dies like love never dies if you really mean it. "The poetry of the earth is never dead".

Step three:
1). One of the historical events that happened in the victorian period was that children was able ot be tought free in 1891.
The other historical event that happened in the victorian period was when jack the Ripper, the serial killer murdered prostitutes in 1888, and that they couldn't find him.

2). I thind life was a little hard for the normal people back then and for the womens and childrens, because they was banded from working in mines in 1842 it was the law they camed up with. It was alot of people who had died in Cholera epidemic; in 1849, 2 thousand a week died.

3). The biggest difference getween the victorian period and the romantic period was that the romantic period was more hard back then but good cause they had machines and factories so that you didn't have to make things yourself, also bad because you could also get hurt on the machines. the victorian period to me is a little easier back then. It was alot of change in most literature, Victorian was also known of inventing childhood.

4).a. The victorian wanted to express the literature of art.
b. He express why some poets continued the movement of colloquial diction in to poetry.
c. He wanted ot express the victorian period brief articles on different aspects of the daily life.

Step five:
Alfred, lord tennyson:
the Eagle:
He's talking about an eagle thats flying around the world. Its similar to the romantic period because its strenght, and power. "close to the sun in lonely land, Ring'd with the azure world, he stands".

Robert Browning:
My Star:
He's talking about one paticular star that he sees every night before he goes to bed. "All, that I Know of a certain star is, it can throw (like the angled spar)". to me it is similar to the romantic period because stars can be used for romantic poetry to. he love looking at one certain star so much that he haves to lat it go.

Matthew Arnold:
the last world:
He's talking about the world is coming to an end, he's giving up on a lot of things like he is saying to let them come in hes home and do what ever they came to do, his evemy, thats taking over his palace. It's similar to the Romantic period because in the Romantic period you couldn't choice but to do what the king said and the normal people couldn't do alot of things. but if the world was coming to an end he would have gave up to.

Thomas Hardy:
The Dead man walking:
It's about a dead man who soul is still alive but dead being burned up in fire and turns to ashes like dust. "I am but a shape that stands here, a Pulseless mould, a pale past picture, screening ashes gone cold". It's a little similar to the romantic period because how he was put away back then they use to burn you up to ashes also.
